Vernon Aircraft Engine Distributor Soars to Global Honor – Lake Country Calendar

It was the star attraction of a major airshow in Europe in 2021.

A dismantled engine turned into an espresso machine as the major trophy awarded to the best distributor of ROTAX aircraft engines.

The trophy/machine, with some modifications made for Canadian electrical purposes, now sits atop a borrowed cabinet in an office in Okanagan Landing.

Rotech Motor Ltd. de Vernon won the trophy, beating all other ROTAX distributors in the United States, Germany, Italy and France.

“It came in a huge wooden crate,” smiles Rob Seaton, director of Vernon Rotech. “They sent us the trophy just before Christmas. It also came with a grinder and sets of cups.

The prize in 2020 was a traditional trophy – smaller, lighter.

Founded in late 2016, Rotech Motor Ltd. is the Canadian distributor of ROTAX aircraft engines, located at Vernon Regional Airport.

The first ROTAX engine was produced in 1975 and today they sell more piston aircraft engines than any other manufacturer.

With 19 distributors worldwide, the ROTAX Distributor of the Year competition encourages performance not only in terms of engine sales volume, but also pilot/technician assistance, technical training and warranty processing. With perseverance and a small but dedicated staff, Rotech Motor Ltd. became a respected distributor of ROTAX aircraft engines.

Winning the award two years in a row for a small company with seven full-time employees is a feather in his collective hat for Rotech.

“We were pretty shocked,” Seaton said. “It’s a points-based system and we’ve done a lot of work. We did a fuel test after receiving noise complaints about an engine product. »

Marc Becker, Head of Aerospace Business at BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co KG in Austria, said that by presenting the award in 2020, Rotech has achieved outstanding development and become one of the most valuable distributors.

“They have provided exceptional services throughout the Americas for all certified companies and for all customers in Canada,” Becker said. “Dedication to excellent, fast and reliable service and support is the cornerstone of our engines’ success in these territories.”
